Foot surgery
Foot surgery at the Emma Klinik
Forefoot surgery is a further key area of surgery with a high number of patients. Among the most common operations are corrections of forefoot deformities such as bunions on the big toe ("hallux valgus"). The Emma Klinik also specialises in the treatment of arthritis of the foot.
Chief consultants:
We offer very differentiated treatment for bunions, taking into account the peculiarities of each deformity in order to ensure that foot functions are maintained or regained to the highest possible degree. This is done using state-of-the-art joint-preserving surgical procedures, whereby the metatarsal bone is divided and repositioned (repositioning osteotomy).
With some patients it makes sense to stiffen the joint at the base of the big toe, especially when advanced arthritis has already affected the joint. This makes the joint more stable under both static and dynamic conditions.
Our online magazine includes an interesting article on this subject entitled "What is hallux valgus?".
