Hand Surgery
Hand surgery at the Emma Klinik
Just how versatile our hands are frequently only becomes clear when we lose the use of them through accident or illness. An injured or deformed hand does not only restrict its mobility, but can also affect sensitivity and strength. The use of the hands may be seriously impaired, and this can also cause a great deal of psychological stress. The aim of the hand surgery department is to restore and preserve the feeling, mobility, strength, stability and the shape of the hand. Because of the delicacy and multiplicity of the structures that are of importance to the functioning of the hand, very gentle surgical techniques, especially microsurgery, are primarily applied. Even the most delicate nerves and vessels can be repaired through microsurgery.
At the beginning of 2007 the Department of Hand Surgery at the Emma Klinik received a licence to train in the specialist field of hand surgery.
