Dupuytren’s disease (bent fingers)
Dupuytren’s disease (bent fingers)
One of our specialised fields is the surgical treatment of Dupuytren’s disease, a very common condition in the palm of the hand. As a result of the disease the fingers become increasingly bent. The causes of the disease are still unknown.
No effective conservative methods of treatment have yet been found. The only way of preventing the condition progressing is to remove the diseased tissue through microsurgery.
Very often fingers can be straightened completely and restricted mobility fully restored.
