Faecal incontinence
Faecal incontinence is socially and personally very incapacitating. Up to 17% of the population suffer from this condition. Its causes are congenital, e.g. spina bifida and imperforate anus, traumatic (e.g. road accidents and pelvic operations), neurological (e.g. as a result of tumours) or old age.
