Facial surgery
Facial surgery
The most frequent operations performed by the facial surgery department are the removal of benign and malignant growths, often followed by plastic surgery to conceal damaged tissue. Scar correction is also a major part of our work. Cosmetic surgery to smooth out wrinkles or conceal the effects of ageing is a further specialty of facial surgery.
There are a number of highly effective procedures depending on the individual problem.
Peeling
Peeling, for example, is the best way of correcting irregularities and small wrinkles on the surface of skin that has been damaged by too much sun. The upper skin layers are removed using fruit acid or blue peel. This stimulates cell regeneration in the upper skin and the creation of collagen fibres. The result is a younger-looking and smoother skin.
Facelifting
When performing a facelift, drooping tissue from the lower two thirds of the face is lifted and fixed surgically. Redundant skin is removed. The fine cosmetic sutures are hidden in the hair behind the ears. Forehead lifting gives the same smoother effect in the top third of the face.
Face modelling
Face modelling is a technique used to correct and harmonise the facial profile and is now a routine operation in the field of aesthetic plastic surgery. Nose corrections are the most frequent operations. However, the chin and jowl can also be corrected to match the rest of the face using small implants. Corrective operations can also be performed to improve deformities of the ear such as bat ears.
