Forefoot surgery is a very important and heavily frequented area of the department. The section mainly operates on forefoot deformities, such as bunions on the big toe ("hallux valgus").

We offer very differentiated treatment for bunions, taking into account the peculiarities of each deformity, in order to ensure that foot functions are maintained or regained to the highest possible degree. We use state-of-the-art joint-preserving surgical procedures, whereby the metatarsal bone is divided and repositioned (repositioning osteotomy).

With some patients it makes sense to stiffen the joint at the base of the big toe, especially when arthritis has severely damaged the joint. This makes the joint more stable under both static and dynamic conditions.
